I’ve decided that my quest for the perfect pair of jeans was taking over my life. I have to move on. And so, with little fanfare, I say goodbye to yet another hair-brained get rich quick (rich in denim anyway) scheme. Adieu.

I was inspired to order a few styles from Victoria Secret based on Ashley’s facebook question and subsequent responses. I placed the order on the 1st and here they are today! Just 4 days later. Woo Hoo!

Here’s what I ordered:

Low Boyfriend Jean in 4 and 6
The Hipster Bootcut Jean in size 6 (they didn’t have a 4)
Super flare jean in 4 and 6
Linen-blend Easy Jean in 4 and 6

Do you think I should keep any of these?

I think I ordered to many pairs to try on. Now, I can’t decide if I like any of them.

I have my return forms filled out (took like half an hour) and I’m ready to pack the boxes. But I just can’t do it! I really want to own a new pair of jeans, but I don’t want to settle. However I think that maybe I have so many options, that I just can’t make up my mind. So here is the question. Do you think I should keep any of these?

Much Ado About Nothing?

So I’ve been agonizing over whether or not to pursue this endeavor.

Do I really want to put my struggles with finding the perfect pair of jeans (along with photos of my butt) out there for anyone and everyone to see. Am I secure enough with me to subject myself to that kind of public scrutiny? Plus, do I really have the time to do this? I arlready have two business and two children plus a large and time consuming family that all live within 30 miles of me.

This is a great opportunity to explore the world of blogging, online social networking and do some shopping all at the same time. Maybe by putting it all out there for everyone to see, I will loose my anxiety over my expanding rear – it will completely obliterate my vanity – free me to appreciate who I am right now. And how much time could it take anyway?

Ashley gave me a great pep talk a couple of days ago and after a little more soul searching, I think she’s right. This is fun, its a good exercise and maybe I’ll find those perfect pair in the process. Her suggestion to find others to contribute their reviews is the key I think. The more people we have reviewing, the better! So please, if you are interested in participating, let me know.

James Jeans 5 Pocket Boot Cut in Majorca

I LOOOVE the wash on these jeans. So fantastically beachy. Unfortunately, the 27s are just way too small.

James Jeans 5 pocket Bootcut in Majorca has a fantastically summer-y wash. Light without being distressed. The weight of the denim fits the color. No distressing – so refreshing. However, the 27s that I ordered are just way to small. As much as I would like to say that they will stretch and I could loose a few pounds it just isn’t practical.

There isn’t a whole lot I can say about the fit except that they don’t. Here’s the run down on the measurements.

Size 27 measurements:

Waist – 32″
Inseam – 34.5″
Front Rise – 7.5″ (along the zipper opening from the top of the waistband to the inseam)
Back Rise – 13″ (along the back seam from the top of the waistband to the inseam)
Hips – 38″ (at the base of the zipper and pockets)
Knee Break – 20″ (from top of waist band)
Leg Opening – 18.5 (at the hem)

AG the Angel ultra light distressed

Remember acid wash? Ok, maybe thats a little harsh. The finish on AGs the Angel is a little more 80s that I like. I liked them from the front. But there are two problems – the wash and the mom butt!

They do make me look wider than the james jeans, the joe’s, the diesels or the rich and skinny. And looking at them again in photo form (not in the mirror) I think they give me a strange 80′s mom butt. Not a good thing at all. So I guess thats my answer – not the perfect pair.

Size 28 measurements:

Waist – 32.5″
Inseam – 34″
Front Rise – 8″ (along the zipper opening from the top of the waistband to the inseam)
Back Rise – 13″ (along the back seam from the top of the waistband to the inseam)

James Jeans Jimmy Flip Flop

These dark wash jeans have the perfect amount of distressing and the perfect cut to wear with a pair of flip flops – I think they would be better summer jeans if they were a little lighter.

The cut works well for my bottom – emphasizing its shape. No flattening or pear shaping. There is extra fabric in the back of the thigh. The front doesn’t pull at all. Unfortunately, I think that James doesn’t do much to make me look leaner. My thighs especially look chuncky in these jeans.

I tried a 27 and a 28. The 27′s fit tight but I think that the cut is meant to be worn loose since the other James Jeans I’ve tried are too tight in 27s and quite perfect in 28s.

Size 28 measurements:

Waist – 33″
Inseam – 31″
Front Rise – 7.75″ (along the zipper opening from the top of the waistband to the inseam)
Back Rise – 13.5″ (along the back seam from the top of the waistband to the inseam)
Hips – 40″ (at the base of the zipper and pockets)
Knee Break – 19.5″ (from top of waist band)
Leg Opening – 19″ (at the hem)

Diesel Ronhar with the braided detail are really cute jeans but unfortunately, I only ordered at 27 and they’re pretty tight. I was trying to convince myself that I would get used to how tight the waist is, but I have to be honest with myself – they’re just not practical. Plus, the look too tight. Now I just need to decide if I should take a chance that I will like the 28s when I put them on.

The nice thing about Diesel is that you can order by length so I can order a 30″ inseam (which is actually not 30 inches but whatever) and I can at least be closer to fitting the height of the jeans. So the question is… after ordering like 25 pairs of jeans from bluefly, do I send them all back in exchange for one pair of size 28 Diesels and hope that there are “the ones?”

Size 27 (30 long) measurements:

Waist – 31″
Inseam – 32″
Hips – 37″ (at the base of the zipper and pockets)
Knee Break – 20″ (from top of waist band)
Leg Opening – 19″ (at the 32″ hem)

Analysis:

Waist - Tight! I can get into them, but they are really meant for someone with a smaller waist.

Bottom Shape – The pockets are a little on the small side. And they overall look is pretty round.

Thigh Fit - not too much extra on the back side but its probably because they are SO tight.

Knee Break – good spot on the knee break probably because of the shorter length.

Length – the inches may say 30, but the actual measurement is 32. However, if you’re planning on wearing these with heels, the extra height is good.

Wash – nice finish. Not too distressed but not too pristine either.

Versatility – I think you could dress these up or down. The only issue is the wide leg opening. If you want to be able to wear them with heels or flip flops, you’re going to have to plan to wear them short with heels, or long with flop flops. Cuffing is not an option.

Hudson Boot Leg Flap Pocket

Hudson’s boot leg 5 pocket stretch jean is definitely cool. However the longer I wore them, the more they flattened out my bottom and made my hips look wide – even lumpy. Definitely not flattering for me. Too bad.

I really really wanted to like these jeans. The pockets are great and the finish is nice. I really like the detailing on the side seams where they double stitch with the seam in the middle instead of off to one side. Unfortunately, these jeans just make me look tubby. They make my hips WIDE. I felt like I had to take a break to regroup after trying these on.

Size 28 measurements:

Waist – 33″
Inseam – 35″
Hips – 38.25″ (at the base of the zipper and pockets)
Knee Break – 22″ (from top of waist band)
Leg Opening – 19.75″ (at the 35″ hem)

Analysis:

Waist - Tight! I can get into them, but they are really meant for someone with a smaller waist. The waist is low – but not so low that I feel like I’m going to end up being “that girl”.

Bottom Shape – Nice flap pockets, but the longer I wear them, the wider and flatter they make me look.

Thigh Fit - Quite a bit extra on the back side.

Knee Break – I’d be better off with a higher knee break.

Length – Long Long Long. If you’re someone who has trouble finding jeans that are long enough, go for these.

Wash – Looks like unwashed denim. Dark but not overdyed.

Versatility – I think you could dress these up or down, but they’re not conservative dress up jeans, they’re club dress up jeans.
